How to reply to Google Play reviews
Google Play replies are public, editable, and hard-capped at 350 characters. That limit shapes everything about how you should write them.

The 350-character limit is real
Google Play rejects a reply over 350 characters outright — it does not truncate it, it refuses to post. Teams that draft in a document and paste in discover this one reply at a time. Anything you write has to survive that ceiling, which means one specific point rather than three general ones.
Who can reply
- 1
Get the right permission
In Play Console, the account needs Reply to reviews on the app. It is separate from Release and from Financial data, and a developer account alone does not include it.
- 2
Find the reviews
Play Console, select the app, then Ratings and reviews, then Reviews. Filter by rating, version, or device — device is the one people forget, and it is often where a crash is hiding.
- 3
Reply once, edit later
One reply per review, editable indefinitely. The reviewer is emailed when you first respond.
Writing inside 350 characters
The limit forces a useful discipline: say what happened, whether it is fixed, and what the reader should do. Everything else is decoration. Openings like “Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback” spend a fifth of your budget saying nothing.
Weak
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us your valuable feedback! We are very sorry that you experienced this issue and we appreciate your patience. Our team is working hard on it.
Better
Battery drain on Android 15 came from our background sync running far more often than intended. Fixed in 4.2 — update and it should settle within a day.
Both are inside the limit, but only one tells a reader whether the problem affects them and whether it is over. The first spends 180 characters before its first fact.
Why replies fail to post
Three causes account for almost all of it: the reply is over 350 characters, the account lacks the reply permission, or the service account the tooling uses was created without both required permissions. The last one is the confusing case, because everything looks connected right up until a reply is rejected.
Reply in the reviewer's language
Play is available in most of the world and reviews arrive accordingly. A reply in the wrong language is worse than none: it is visible proof to every subsequent reader that responses are automated and nobody read the review. Within 350 characters, in the right language, is a genuinely hard constraint to hit by hand at any volume.
Doing this by hand does not scale
BeenuLabs reads every App Store and Google Play review as it arrives, works out what it means, and drafts a reply in your brand voice and the reviewer's own language. You approve it — or set a star threshold above which it publishes itself.
